Meet Melissa

Welcome!

Hi there! I’m Melissa, the owner & principal photographer of Melissa De Vera Photography. I love being able to share in the lives of my clients and feel blessed to get to work with such wonderful people each and every day!

Based out of Fredericksburg, I’ve been a professional photographer for over 5 years now. There's rarely a day that goes by that I don’t have my camera in-tow.

After being a full time Mom and raising my 3 amazing children, I started photographing friends and family members to build up my portfolio. When I started professionally, I actually began by working at our three local hospitals as one of the newborn photographers. It's been a long journey with lots of lessons and bumps along the way, but I couldn’t be more thankful with where I am now with my business. I feel truly blessed to be able to do what I love every day and I'm so grateful for the amazing new friends I've made along the way.

My approach to each portrait session is to try to capture the warmth and personality of each participant and relate that in the most authentic way possible. I like to incorporate both posed and candid shots and will do whatever it takes to make the most of each session for my clients. I tend to stick to clean and crisp edits, but also enjoy getting creative and stepping outside of my usual style as well.

I am a stickler for details, love the concept of being organized, and tend to give a ton of information. With those qualities my clients get a personal, detail oriented session in which my prime focus is to make sure my clients love their images.

I grew up in both Va. Beach and Sturbridge, Massachusetts, I owned a small antiques business for a while, and I come from a family of serious Washington Football Team fans.
